Lexie Nicole Fullmer

When I first wrote this post I started it by saying I wouldn't go into too much detail... then I started writing it out and couldn't stop so it is what it is, read it if you want!  BUT I will say that being in labor was SO much fun! yaaa maybe not. But it's a good thing we get a baby out of the long day because it really does make it all worth it and you forget about all the pain you were in and are just in shock and what just came out. Everyone probably knows that for the 5 weeks leading up to her big debut Jake was living in Arizona with my parents and I was living in Idaho with his parents. He had gotten a job and being a month away from having a baby I did not want to worry about having to find a doctor and switch our insurance in that time so I stayed up in Idaho so I could keep my same doctor and insurance. All I was worried about in that last month was whether or not Jake was going to make it for her delivery. I could not imagine him not being there so I begged my doctor to be induced and he was great and understanding and after a couple of weeks with NO progression on my end he went ahead and scheduled me to be induced on Sept. 17. Well the Friday before I was still not progressed so I knew it was going to be a long day. Instead of writing this all out I will just do a timeline of the day (rough estimates because I hardly remember exact times).

7:00 am: Start Pitocin (still not dilated)

10:30 am: Jake arrives at the hospital! I was feeling smaller contractions and she had checked me and I was maybe at a 1 1/2

11:00 am: My water broke on its own and pretty sure they upped my dosage of Pitocin and this is where I felt like I was going to die right there on the table....

11:00 am- 4 pm: 15-20 second HARD contractions about every 2 minutes during this whole...time... I heard pitocin makes the contractions harder and I believe it. I dreaded the feeling of those contractions coming and all you can do is breath through it and eat popsicles. (that's all I could have all day.. no water! I was dying).

4:00 pm: The nurse came to check me again and I was maybe at a 3.... My doctor wanted me to be at a 4 before I got that epidural... but at that point I think my nurse could tell I was in alot of pain and so she called him and he said I could have it!! That was the longest 30 minute wait for that epidural man of my life but when he came I was overwhelmed with pure joy.

After I got that epidural the nurse checked me about an hour later and I had gone from a 3 to an 8 1/2!! Then 30 minutes later I was at a 9 almost 9 1/2. I was so relieved and SO ready to meet this little girl. They started prepping the room for delivery and it all went so fast! About 30 minutes before I was supposed to start pushing they switched nurses on me and I was nervous because I had the same awesome nurse all day, but the next nurse literally made the whole experience so much easier. She was so great and helped me and Jake through it all since we had no clue what we were doing! She held one leg and jake held the other (TMI?) and the pushing began. I pushed for about an hour total (which actually went by really fast) and the doctor said that he could tell our baby was getting tired so he helped the situation by suction cupping her out (hate that term.. but jake said it just looked like a plunger type thing and just helped her ease her way out). Now picture overload.

  

Here she is! She was a whopping 8 lbs. exactly and measured 20 1/4 in.

 

I could not imagine doing this without Jake being there, and if you ask him he just LOVED every minute of the whole thing ; ) (especially the placenta and umbilical cord part haha)

Let the long nights of no sleep begin

 I meant to take pictures of everyone that came to visit Lexie in the hospital but that just didn't happen. We loved having everyone come see her and support us in our short time in Idaho.

 It's crazy to think that me and Jake went and saw Reid in the hospital when he was born and now he was there loving on our baby!!
