Monterey Getaway

Jakes older sister Carly called us and told us they rented a beach house in Monterey for the week and invited us to come! We could not turn down that offer especially since neither of us had been there and needed a fun little getaway. We left Sunday morning and it was only a two hour drive! We pulled up to the cutest little house right down the street from Lovers point beach in pacific grove.

Jimmy and Carly pulled up a couple minutes later and we decided to go for a walk and check the area out. It was perfect weather and so gorgeous!

The next day we went to the Monterey bay aquarium which Lexie loved!!

Later that evening we went to the famous Dennis the Menace park which was actually a really cool park! Lexie and all the kids loved it of course... She did not want to leave!

The next morning the boys went golfing so we walked down to the beach with all the kids and let them play for a while! Sidenote: Carly has 5 kids and the youngest is 2 months old and she is seriously a super mom! Especially on vacations! Lexie liked the water until she got too excited and fell down and the waves got to her... But after a quick change of clothes she was back to playing in the sand and keeping her distance from the cold water.

When the boys got back we went on a drive up past big sur to a hike to see McWay falls. It was the prettiest drive I have ever done right along the coast but also the curviest drive....

The plan was to leave that night but on the way back lexie got car sick for the first time on that dang crazy drive and so we didn't want to risk driving home for another 2 hours until her stomach settled so we stayed another night and left early the next morning. We owe Carly and jimmy big time for inviting us on their family vacation and we will definitely be visiting Monterey again!

San Francisco!

We were FINALLY able to get out and explore San Francisco. We live about an hour outside of the city (without traffic) and we absolutely loved everything about it. We loved being able to just hop in the car and go and it's a completely different world over there... Different weather... Different people... Everything! We parked our car and walked over to pier 39/fishermans wharf. We walked around and saw the seals, Alcatraz, and lexie was in heaven! We grabbed some lunch at Boudin (which we weren't really impressed). We loved just walking around and lexie loved looking out at the water and people watching. We of course had to get dessert at Ghiradellis and it was soooo good.

Then we wanted to go check out the Golden Gate Bridge and this is where the longgg adventure began... We didn't realize how far away it was and before we realized we probably should have taken a bus we were too far down where the busses didn't come so we literally walked for an hour! Haha good thing it was great weather and a pretty view. And the good thing was lexie actually took a nap while we we were walking so it ended up working out! But the bridge is absolutely breath taking and it was weird to actually be standing in front of it when all I have seen is pictures of it.
It was a fun little day trip and now we can't wait to go book! I can't wait for visitors to come see us so we can take them! (Hint hint).
